In light of the executive order to contain the novel coronavirus, Outreach and Retention specialists are available to support remotely. Program dates and deadlines are proceeding as posted.
In partnership with the city of Seattle, the Seattle Promise Scholarship currently offers up to two years or 90 credits of free tuition to all graduates of six eligible Seattle public high schools regardless of GPA, income, or background. By fall of 2020, the program will expand to offer this option to all Seattle public high school graduates who choose to attend any of the Seattle Colleges.
For the 2018-19 academic year, the Seattle Promise is jointly funded by the city of Seattle and Seattle Colleges. The city of Seattle is using both general funds and revenue from the Sweetened Beverage Tax to support the program. Beyond the 2018-19 academic year, the funding structure for the program will include support through the City’s Education Levy for the seven years of the levy and from private and public partnerships.
There is a need for contributions to establish an endowment fund that can sustain the Seattle Promise today and in the future when the city of Seattle’s supporting education levy sunsets after its seven-year term.
